October 16-22 is Digital Citizenship Week. In an ever increasing world of technology, being a good digital citizen becomes more and more important. Learning to use technology in a safe, responsible, and appropriate way is a skill students will use the rest of their lives. Willard East uses Common Sense Media.org to teach about digital citizenship. Mrs. Hillenburg in the library and I partner together to teach students topics such as digital footprints, cyber bullying, cell phone manners, and internet safety.
Many resources are available at Common Sense Media to help you navigate technology with your child. Under the "Family Guides tab" there are reviews of movies, tv shows, and video games. The "Parent Concerns tab" covers many more important issues parents may have questions about. Common Sense Media is a great website for parents and teachers.. Be sure to check it out. Below is a link to their site.
My name is Mrs. McGuire. I am so excited about seeing my friends in the computer lab. We are going to learn so much!
